Grundtvig's Church

The church chair was initially designed for Bethlehem Church. However, it is in Grundtvig's church with the chairs that cemented the chair's iconic status. Bethlehem and Grundtvig's churches were designed by renowned architect Peder Vilhelm Jensen Klint, Kaare Klint's father. After Jensen Klint died in 1930, Kaare Klint completed the construction of both churches.

Kaare Klint, recognized as the father of modern Danish furniture design, helped establish the furniture design department at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1924.

As a lecturer and later professor, Klint taught many of Denmark's future famous designers such as Børge Mogensen, Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm and Ole Wanscher.

Thorsager Round Church

In Thorsager Rundkirke, a beautiful round church in Djursland, you'll find a dark version of Kaare Klint's Church Chair.

When the sun's rays find their way through the narrow church windows and hit the church chair, the dark color becomes almost glowing and the Kaare Klint chair invites you to an elevated moment.
