Hans Sandgren Jakobsen, a skilled carpenter and industrial designer, has established his daily workplace in a beautiful older building located on the quayside at Grenaa Harbor. He is a trained carpenter and later obtained an industrial design degree from the Danish Design School in Copenhagen. His design philosophy is deeply rooted in a functional design language where aesthetics and functionality go hand in hand. Inspired by the American Shaker style approach to furniture design, where beauty comes from the function of the furniture, this philosophy informs all of his designs. The design process is an exciting and demanding journey for Hans Sandgren Jakobsen. From the initial stage, where ideas exist only in his mind and on paper, he experiences a deep influence from his subconscious and the changes that occur along the way. He sees innovation, aesthetics and functionality as crucial elements in his design work.
